My name is Nicole Burgett-Yandow, NP; I’m a nurse practitioner and I’m running for Tewksbury’s Board of Health. I believe my medical expertise makes me a needed voice on the Board of Health.

I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing after graduating magna cum laude from Northeastern in 2002 and worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in Infectious Disease as a research study nurse from 2003-2011 coordinating HIV research studies for both industry and National Institute of Health trials. In this role, I received a staff recognition award in 2011. I learned a great deal about public health and community outreach in this position.

In 2010, I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Boston with my Master’s in Nursing. After receiving national accreditation and licensure from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a family nurse practitioner, I began working in primary care in 2011 and I remained in primary care until last summer when I accepted a position at Winchester Hospital’s Weight Management Center. I am currently licensed in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

I am running for the Board of Health because I believe that medical knowledge is essential to the Board of Health and my experience in medicine and knowledge of public health makes me a great candidate. If elected, I would like to improve communication from the Board of Health to residents, highlight current public health initiatives, compile public health resources on housing, disease prevention, wellness & more as well as focus on mental health needs in our community and schools.
