Manhole Issue Prompts Road Closures On Main Street In Waltham
Watch for detours, say fire officials.

WALTHAM, MA — If you're driving anywhere along Main Street, be aware that there are some road closures, after someone reported smoke coming from a manhole this morning at 987 Main Street.
Police and fire fighters are nearby blocking off the roadway out of caution. Main Street is blocked off at Prospect Hill Avenue to Prospect Hill Road and Weston Street and Elm Avenue are also blocked, said officials.
The MBTA has been notified, so watch for bus detours, too.

Fire officials say it doesn't appear there was an explosion.
"[But] any time there's an issue underground we try to contact Eversource," said Lt. Scott Perry of the Fire Department.

A call came in just before 10 a.m. about the manhole, Waltham Engine 4 and two police cars are on scene and officials are letting businesses in the area know, said Perry.
At this point it doesn't look like there are any power outages reported.
