Scratch one possible candidate for the 10th Middlesex County House of Representatives seat.
Waltham’s Ward 9 City Councilor has announced he will not run in the special election for the seat former rep Peter Koutoujian vacated last year when he was appointed the interim Middlesex County Sheriff. The House district includes Waltham and parts of Watertown and Newton.
Logan’s decision comes weeks after fellow Waltham City Councilor announced he would run for the seat, which covers parts of Waltham, Watertown and Newton.

Logan cited several reasons for his decision, which he arrived at after consulting family, friends and supporters.
“While I am both humbled and honored by the encouragement and support that I have received from so many people over the last few weeks, I have come to the conclusion that other endeavors present more opportunity for me to have influence on issues important to me and my constituents at the state level,” he said in a statement Sunday, Feb. 6.

Logan also said his recent election as the vice president of the Massachusetts Municipal Association helped him make a final decision.
“This will afford me the ability to be at the forefront of work on important issues affecting cities and towns across the Commonwealth, including Waltham, such as local aid. I look forward to continuing my service as a member of the Waltham City Council, and would like to thank all those who have been so generous with their encouragement and support,” he said.
The primary election for the seat is scheduled for April 19, while the general election will be held May 10.
