5 Things: Ice Rink News, Storytime, Basketball and Free Pancakes

A few things you need to know on Feb. 5, 2013, in Wayland.

1. Ice Rinks Open. Both Wayland rinks, one at Cochituate Field and the other on the soccer field at Wayland Town Building, are open thanks to a few cold days. The rinks are open from dawn to dusk.

2. Storyvine. The Wayland Public Library introduces preschoolers to reading through stories, singing and activities. No reservations are necessary.

3. Did You See This? The next Walden Forum will take place at Wayland High School and will address the topic of peaceful coexistence for Israel and Palestine.

4. Warrior Basketball. The varsity boys' basketball team will take on Concord-Carlisle tonight at the Wayland High School field house. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

5. National Pancake Day! Starting your Tuesday with a stack of pancakes is good; starting your Tuesday with a FREE stack of pancakes is even better. IHOP is giving away pancakes today in honor of National Pancake Day. Your short stack of flapjacks is free, but IHOP accepts donations for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals or another local charity. The nearest IHOPs to Wayland are in Brighton and Dedham ... so perhaps a stop on your way to work?
