Annual Fishing Derby Coming to Wayland Saturday

The Annual Youth Fishing Derby always draws a crowd as it raises funds for charity.

Tom Antonellis, of Carpentry by Tom Antonellis, is once again organizing the Annual Youth Fishing Derby at Mill Pond in Wayland.

The event will take place Saturday, May 11, from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. and the community is invited to enjoy the festivities as youth up 13 years old take part.

Every participant will receive a ribbon, and the angler who catches the specially tagged fish will win an additional prize. Bobby the Bobber will also be on hand for photo opportunities.

There isn't an entry fee to fish, but 100 percent of the donations recieved will be given to The Vernon Cancer Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

Additionally, proceeds from the sale of hot chocoate, coffee, doughnuts and pastries as well as raffle tickets for adults wil go to the cancer center.
