Can Wayland Not Make Its Mind Up About Pot?

To reverse the decision, Wayland voters would have to go through two hoops to ban recreational pot in town.

WAYLAND, MA—First, residents voted to support recreational marijuana. Now, its thinking, maybe it's not such a good idea.

On Monday, the Wayland Board of Selectmen talked about the possibility of reversing the November, 2016, approval to support recreational marijuana, reports Wicked Local Wayland.

In July, the board will set dates to establish two votes that could ultimately ban recreational marijuana in Wayland, including town meeting and a ballot vote.

Last year, Wayland voters nixed it at its town meeting Article 9, which proposed to adopt an amendment to the Zoning Bylaw that would establish a temporary moratorium on the use of land or structures for Recreational Marijuana Establishments through Jan. 1, 2019 or six months from the date that final regulations are issued by the Cannabis Control Commission, whichever date is later to allow time to study the issue and develop appropriate bylaws and ordinances, according to the Planning Board.

The Wayland Planning Department is working on regulations if Wayland rejects the ban.
