Keeping Wayland strong—preserving its outstanding schools and excellent community services—and exercising proactive fiscal management are not mutually exclusive. In fact, the only way the Town can sustain its excellence in these challenging times is through active budgeting, reporting, and oversight.

Tony Boschetto’s proactive fiscal approach is complemented by a record of significant, long-term service to our community—as president of the Wayland Baseball and Softball Association, providing privately funded programs for children of all abilities in grades K–9; as a leader in sponsoring, construction and installation of upgrades to athletic facilities at Claypit Hill School, the Cochituate Ball Field, and the Art King Field at Town Hall…and more.

He is a proven leader. In 2011, he sponsored a Town Meeting article that released $4 million in surplus tax dollars, saving the average homeowner $1,000 without any reduction in Town services. In 2012, he identified non-service related adjustments to the proposed Town budget that led to a significant reduction in the FY13 tax rate.

Boschetto’s opponent stated during Candidate’s Night that "I am very concerned that a Board of Selectmen with Ed, Doug and Tony will try to take Wayland in the wrong direction." The Ed and Doug in question are Ed Collins and Doug Leard, who handily won their selectman seats in the last election because they, in fact, embrace a more transparent style of governance and decision-making.

Thoughtful…smart…independent…honest…fiscally astute…and committed to keeping Wayland strong. These are the qualities I am looking for in our next selectman, which is why I will be voting for Tony Boschetto.
