Needed: Volunteers for OPEB, Wayland Cares Temporary Committees
The Wayland Board of Selectmen is seeking volunteers for two newly created committees.

The Wayland Board of Selectmen voted at its most recent meeting to create two temporary advisory committees and is now looking for residents to serve.
According to a press release, one committee will examine Wayland Cares. The committee will look at "responding to the near unanimous support by Town Meeting of services, but [discomfort] with the organizational structure or the use of local tax dollars to continue to support the initiative." The committee will evaluate the Wayland Cares program and recommend "a service-delivery model by November 2013 for inclusion in the FY2015 annual operating budget."
The other committee will focus its attentions on Other Post Employment Benefits (OPEB). Specifically, the OPEB advisory committee will look at "the investment of funds, the allocation of future funding requirements among budgets and fee-based programs, examining payments in prior years for fee-based program employees to assure taxpayer equity, and ways to reduce long-term liabilities," the press release reads. The committee will make recommendations to selectmen that will then be "reflected in the FY2015 omnibus budget plan and in the separate funding article for OPEB expenses at the 2014 Annual Town Meeting."
