Boys' Volleyball (submitted by Coach Rod Fletcher)

The Wayland boys volleyball team rolled off the bus and onto the volleyball court versus the Boston Latin Wolfpack on Friday May 3, and took a 3-0 win with almost no warm up.

The Warriors and the Wolfpack traded points and side outs early in the game as both teams worked their way into the match. The Warriors got into a groove with steady ball control from Dave Cohen and hitting from Kurt Straube and Nick Tempesta to win game one 25-12. Wayland settled into a side-out exchange with Boston Latin and ultimately prevailed 25-21 in the second game. Wayland stayed just ahead of the Wolfpack in the third game thanks to solid play from Will Curry, and closed out the match 3-0 with a 25-22 win. The Warriors now 6-7 on the season will play Winchester Monday at 4 p.m. and two DCL rivals, Cambridge and Lincoln Sudbury, later in the week.

Wayland Softball (submitted by Coach Hipolita Rivera)

Wayland falls to Mt. Alvernia, 1-3 in an away contest Friday, May 3.

Samantha Abbott (sophomore) pitched a great game while not giving up any earned runs. Still, Melanie Barber's (senior) two triples weren't enough late in the game to pull it out.

The softball team is next in action Wednesday at home against Weston High School.
