Wayland Rep Appointed House Chair of Joint Committee

Rep. Tom Conroy (D-Wayland) is serving his fourth term in the state house.

Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo has appointed state Rep. Tom Conroy (D-Wayland) co-chair of the Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development, according to a press release.

State Sen. Dan Wolf (D-Harwich) co-chairs the committee.

"I am honored by this appointment, and very grateful that Speaker DeLeo has placed his trust in me in this important role," Conroy said in a release. "Since joining the legislature, I have worked on several issues within this committee’s jurisdiction, including wages, labor rights, workforce training, the business environment in Massachusetts, private sector interests, and job growth. I look forward to working with labor unions and the business community on these matters during the next two years.”

Conroy served as vice chair of the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing during the 2011-2012 legislative session. In that role, " he helped shape the landmark health care cost containment and quality improvement bill that became law in August 2012," according to the release.
