Wayland's First Town Manager Michael McCall Starts Job
The former Southbridge town manager will also introduce himself at Monday's select board meeting.

WAYLAND, MA — Wayland's first ever town manager will have his first day Monday.
Former Southbridge town manager Michael McCall was hired in December by the Wayland Select Board. McCall will not only be the first permanent chief administrator in more than a year, but the first person to permanently become town manager. Over the past few years, Wayland transitioned town government to one run by a manager rather than an administrator.
Wayland's last town administrator, Louise Miller, left for a position in Framingham in January 2022, kicking off a search for her replacement.

Apart from being the Southbridge manager, McCall, a Chelmsford resident, previously served as Chelmsford's assistant town manager, and as an attorney for the Pelham and Milford police departments in New Hampshire.
"Through these roles, he has gained skills in management; administrative procedure, municipal administration and state government; developing and implementing measures to improve the efficiency and economy of limited budgetary resources; human resources and personnel administration; and more," the town said in a December news release about McCall's hiring.
