Woman Gets Wedding Ring Back Thanks To Wayland Boy With Detector

A Wayland boy goes to the beach in Maine every night to look for treasures with his dad.

WAYLAND, MA—A Beverly woman has her diamond wedding back because of a curious 11-year-old with a metal detector.

The Wayland boy was using his metal detector on a beach in Ogunquit, Maine, over the holiday and it beeped when he came across the ring beneath the sand, reports Wicked Local Wayland. Helena Avola had taken off the diamond to apply sunscreen, but they couldn't find the ring when they returned to the spot they had been on the beach.

Helena's husband Stephen Avola left his number with the lifeguard, and later that night, Enious Taggart, who is spending the summer in Ogunquit, did his daily hunt with the detector with his dad along the beach. He found the lost ring, and Taggart's dad made contact with lifeguards and police through Facebook.
