WELLESLEY, MA — Wellesley resident Athené M. Sirivallop joins the board of directors of Girls Inc. of Boston and Lynn. Sirivallop is the director of MassBioHub & workplace operations at Massachusetts Biotechnology Council and has a long history with the non-profit organization dating back to her childhood in Houston, Texas.
“I am and always will be a Girls Inc. girl,” said Sirivallop who became involved with the Houston affiliate as a young teenager at the recommendation of her father who wanted her to have more female role models. She became immersed in Girls Inc. and founded a Leadership Council where she became President.
“It was such an exciting time in my life outside of school meeting professional women,” said Sirivallop. She formed a lifelong friendship with her mentor Gwen Richard, a Principal at McKinney Taylor P.C., Houston. It was at a Girls Inc. Luncheon where she was giving her speech as a National Scholar recipient, that Sirivallop met several leaders from Texas Southern University that changed the trajectory of her life and opened doors.

“These connections and their network led me to access that I had otherwise been denied due to capacity being filled to an Honors Program at the University that I had previously applied to. I proceeded that year to attend Texas Southern University under the Frederick Douglass Honors Program receiving a full 4-year scholarship,” said Sirivallop, “This visibility has taken me on a ride of my life and taught me not to be content with staying back but being out front and strong, smart and bold."
