Renowned Local Chef Kenzo Opening New Westborough Restaurant

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A renowned local sushi chef is on the move again, and he's coming to Westborough.

Chef Kenzo Phan — well known for his long culinary career in the Worcester area — is renovating the Sapporo Korean BBQ restaurant in Westborough into a new concept called Kenzo's Sushi Steakhouse.

Kenzo was most recently in residence at the Casta Diva restaurant in Northborough. He previously worked at Zipango along Shrewsbury Street, Worcester's "restaurant row." He also operated the Worcester sushi spot Haiku, and was the sushi chef at Willy's Steakhouse in Shrewsbury, according to local reports.

Sapporo Korean BBQ operated in the 50 East Main St. plaza near downtown Westborough since 2006, serving classics like bibimbap and bulgogi, along with its own full sushi menu.

Phan is projecting the new concept will open this week by Oct. 7, and is already accepting reservations.
