WESTBOROUGH, MA—A random car stop in Westborough led to the arrest of a man who allegedly stole another person's identity in order to register a car, get a license, a job and even health insurance.

On Tuesday, Oct. 10, around 7:18 a.m., Patrolman Chris Atchue pulled over a 1996 Honda on Route 9 in front of Decks Plus, the car stopped because a random registration check showed that the owner had a revoked license. The driver showed a Massachusetts license that identified him as the registered owner, but a check with the RMV showed that the person who was stopped was not the same as that whose picture was on record, said police.

A further investigation revealed that the operator was actually Jose A. Minier, 36 Commonwealth Ave.. Worcester. Police determined that he had obtained the information of another Worcester resident and with that information he received a MA operator’s license and was able to register the Honda. Other paperwork that was discovered showed that Minier had totally taken over this other person’s identity with employment, financial and health benefits, said police.
