Police Warn Residents About Airsoft Guns In Westborough
Airsoft guns may look identical to a firearm.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — The Westborough Police Department is warning residents about the dangers of airsoft guns.
A child pointed what appeared to be a firearm at another child in a public area on Sunday, according to police. When officers arrived at the scene, they took the weapon and confirmed it was an airsoft gun.
Police said the juvenile and parents were interviewed, and charges will follow.

Airsoft guns are non-lethal air guns that are designed for recreational activities, but they may look identical to a firearm.
Westborough police shared a photo of the airsoft gun writing, "The resemblance to an actual Glock 17 9mm Pistol, which many police departments carry, is uncanny."

Now, police are urging parents to keep these guns inside the home.
"Unfortunately, many times it is much to late if something like this is presented to an officer," wrote the Westborough Police Department.
