Trisha Dutta Wins Westborough Lions Youth Speech Contest
WHS 1st Year Student Moves on to District 33A Lions , Region 1, Contest in January
Trisha Dutta, a 1st year student at WHS (Westborough High School), took 1st Place in the Westborough Lions Youth Speech Contest on Tuesday, December 9th. There were twelve students ranging from 1st years to seniors who participated in the contest. The contest was held at the Willows Community Room on Lyman St. in Westborough. The speech topic was: What Can Past America Teach Future America? The students each gave a five to eight minute speech on the topic. Each speech was well thought out and rehearsed. Three non-Lion judges evaluated the speeches on delivery, effectiveness, and text. Westborough Lions 1st VP, Burton Christensen, was the timekeeper, with Club President Tony Ash and Secretary Guido Lonardo as Tellers. Lion Susan Ash was this year's Youth Speech Chairperson,
Trisha moves on to the District 33A Lions, Region 1, Contest on Wednesday, January 7th, at the Uxbridge Senior Center. She will compete against the winners of the Grafton, Harvard, and Uxbridge Lions Clubs. We wish Trisha the best of luck as she moves on in this state-wide competition!
