Worried About Coyotes? Westborough Offers Coyote 101
A local coyote expert will talk to Westborough residents about how to manage living with the scavenger canines.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — Coyotes are thriving in Westborough — and almost every other city and town in the state, according to state wildlife officials.
So if you have questions or concerns about the medium-size canine scavenger, you might want to check out a special presentation Thursday being hosted by Westborough Animal Control.
Project Coyote representative John Marguranis, a former Belmont animal control officer, will give a presentation about all things coyote: their history, habits, diet and how to "haze" them the correct way to prevent unwanted interactions.

Local coyotes — the Eastern coyote subspecies — are active in every community in the state except Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Typical coyotes are about the same size as small dogs, weigh 40 to 50 pounds on average, according to MassWildlife. They feed on whatever they find — and that can sometimes mean small pets or backyard chickens.
The "Living With Coyotes" presentation begins Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Mill Pond School, 6 Olde Hickory Path.
