At last May’s Memorial Day celebration on the common, Andrea Peraner-Sweet got up and addressed the veterans as Chairman of the Board of Selectman. Her words were so moving and compelling that I approached her afterwards to let her know. She replied by telling me it took her an entire week to write those words, and not being a veteran herself, there was no way she could stand in front of the veterans without knowing she had done her best to explain how much we all appreciated their service.
I had only met Andrea casually before this, but for me, her commitment to the people in town really sunk in after hearing her reply.
