Westford Event To Honor Victims Of Gun Violence
On the anniversary of the shooting death of 17-year-old Westford resident Olivia Marchand, activists will gather.
WESTFORD, MA — A decade after a shooting that rocked the town, there's an event being held to highlight gun violence and domestic abuse.
Survivor Jody Marchand said she created the Live For Liv Foundation after her life changed in an instant in 2010 when her husband shot and killed their 17-year-old daughter and then shot her before turning the gun on himself.
On Feb. 1, the 10-year anniversary of the shooting in her Westford home, Marchand, along with Congresswoman Lori Trahan and State Rep. Jim Arciero, will mark National Gun Violence Survivors Week with a special event. It's one of several being held across the state by Everytown For Gun Safety Support Fund and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

By early February, more Americans are killed with guns than are killed in peer countries in an entire calendar year, according to the Massachusetts chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. National Gun Violence Survivors Week is focused on amplifying the stories of survivors who live with the daily impact of gun violence, according to a release.
The event will start at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Roudenbush Community Center, 65 Main Street in Westford. Register here.
