State Police To Step Up Patrol of Route 125
The State Police have announced increased patrols in light of Andover's fatal accident.

In light of a the State Police Barracks will be focusing on Route 125 immediately.
In a press release sent Thursday, State Police said effective immediately, they will be directing a selective enforcement patrol to focus exclusively on Route 125 through Wilmington, Andover, and North Andover.
"This action is being taken in the interest of public safety in response to traffic concerns raised by community members," the release said.

Several Andover community members have said a set of lights is needed at the stretch of road where the couple was killed Friday.
When staffing permits, a selective enforcement patrol out of the Andover Barracks will be assigned to focus on Route 125 in those towns on each of the three daily shifts, the release said.

According to State Police, troopers will primarily focus on driving behaviors that contribute to crashes, including excessive speed, improper passing on the right, following to closely, texting and impeded operation, and aggressive and negligent operation.
The selective enforcement patrols will be in operation until further notice.
