All funds raised will benefit the Wilmington Public Schools. Fifty percent of each student’s fundraising total will be donated to his or her school. The other 50 percent will help fund the Wilmington Educational Foundation’s grant programs.
“This wonderful event raises a lot of money for our schools while putting smiles on the faces of students, teachers and parents,” says WEF President Leslee Quick in a press release issued Monday. “The walk also provides students with an opportunity to engage in some additional exercise during the school day.”
This popular fundraiser has raised more than $115,000 since its inception, including nearly $20,000 last year.
