Wilmington's Weather: Grab Those Sweaters, Fall is in the Air

Temperatures are set to cool as Autumn officially begins at 4:21 a.m. Wednesday morning, Sept. 23.

Fall is in the air! Even though Autumn officially starts at 4:21 a.m. Wednesday, sweater weather will arrive early in the region, so be prepared as you head out to the bus stops and work Monday morning.

National Weather Service forecasters are predicting much more seasonal temperatures for the upcoming week.

Temperatures in Wilmington will dip into the 40s on Sunday night. The high temperatures are expected to reach the high 60s early in the week, according to NWS forecasters. Overall, the week looks like it will be sunny and dry.

Here’s a look at Wilmington’s forecast for the upcoming week:

  • Monday: Sunny with a few afternoon clouds and a high of 70. Mostly cloudy skies and 51 degrees Monday night.
  • Tuesday: Mostly cloudy skies with a high of 69. Considerable clouds early Tuesday night with a low of 48.
  • Wednesday: A mainly sunny day with a high of 76. Wednesday night clear skies and a low of 50.
  • Thursday: Another mainly sunny day with a high of 75. Clear skies with a few passing clouds Thursday night with a low of 51.
  • Friday: Sunshine with some cloudy intervals, high of 67. Friday night expect partly cloudy skies with a low of 46.
