2 Teens Charged After Driving Stolen Vehicles Without A License In Worcester

Both suspects were under 16 years old.

WORCESTER, MA — Two teenagers were charged after driving stolen vehicles and failing to stop for police officers on Monday, Jan. 12.

A 14-year-old male was charged after police said he drove on the wrong side of the road and caused an accident. At the same time, a 15-year-old male was also charged after driving a car into the woods and running into oncoming traffic, according to the Worcester Police Department.

Police said both vehicles were stolen.

At around 10:20 a.m., police said the 14-year-old rove on the wrong side of the road, causing another driver to swerve out of the way. He also drove the wrong way down a one-way street. He then crashed into another vehicle, causing his vehicle to flip onto its side, police said.

At the same time, another driver in a different vehicle drove into the woods on Loxwood Street and then ran from the vehicle into oncoming traffic, which almost caused several crashes, according to police.

In Massachusetts, individuals must be at least 16 years old to obtain a learner's permit, meaning the two teenagers were not licensed to drive.

No serious injuries were reported between the two incidents.

Both teenagers were charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for a stop sign/red light (twice), and operating the wrong way on a one-way street.
