CT Man Charged In Shooting Of Woman At Worcester Party: Police

The woman was treated after being shot during a weekend party along Young Street, Worcester police said.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester police arrested a Connecticut man following a shooting Sunday night at a house party in the Webster Square area that left a woman injured.

Worcester police responded to a Young Street home near 9:30 p.m. Sunday after a report of a shooting. The 19-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Police said they arrested the suspected shooter, Juan Carlos Hernandez Villegas, of Danielson, Conn., at the scene. Police said he fired a single shot with a handgun after two women at the party began fighting.

Villegas was arrested on charges of armed assault to murder, assault and battery with a gun, plus a host of gun law violations, including possession a gun without a license, and possession of a gun while committing a felony.
