WORCESTER, MA — The fast-expanding Jersey Mike's sub chain will open its first restaurant in Worcester on Wednesday, according to the company.

The Worcester Jersey Mike's will be located in Kelley Square inside a gas station and car wash complex that was rebuilt over the last years.

Wednesday's opening will be marked by a fundraiser for Special Olympics Massachusetts. The sub shop has been distributing coupons in the community that can be exchanged for any regular sub for a $3 donation to the Special Olympics.

The chain, founded in the 1950s in Point Pleasant, N.J., has opened several new locations in central Massachusetts recently, part of a nationwide expansion goal of 5,000 locations. In 2022, franchisees opened Jersey Mike's locations in Hudson, Westborough and Milford, coming on the heels of openings in Marlborough and Shrewsbury previously. The Worcester location will be owned and operated by Tyler Tombs, who also runs a Shrewsbury Jersey Mike's.

The Worcester Jersey Mike's is also still looking for employees. Anyone interested should stop by the store or call (508) 365-6444. The Kelley Square store will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
