Holden Man Found Guilty Of Murdering Brother: Worcester DA
The body of Michael Dowjat's brother was found dismembered at his home in Rutland on 2014. Dowjat was found guilty of the murder.

WORCESTER, MA—A Holden man was sentenced on Thursday to life in prison for killing his brother in Rutland 2014.
A Superior Court jury found Michael Dowjat guilty of murder in the second degree today in the killing of his brother in 2014, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr. The jury deliberated for 13 hours over three days before delivering the verdict.
The dismembered body of David J. Alan, 59, was found at his home on East County Road in Rutland on June 14, 2014. Dowjat, Alan’s brother, was charged with murder and later indicted by a Worcester County Grand Jury.

“The jury did a very good job on this case,” Early said in a statement. “I want to thank the prosecutors, Terry McLaughlin and Lina Pashou, for their work in presenting this case. I also want to commend the Rutland police and the State Police Detectives assigned to our office for their hard work.”
The sentencing is scheduled for May 10, and by statute will be sentenced to life in prison with eligibility for parole in 15 years.
