Mass Pike Lanes Will Stay Closed During Rush Hour After Crash
A semitrailer crashed through the median along the Mass Pike in Charlton early Tuesday. Repairs will cause delays in both directions.
CHARLTON, MA — MassDOT is warning Mass Pike drivers to expect long delays Tuesday evening due to a crash that damaged a portion of the highway in Charlton.
Just after 9 a.m., state police reported that a semitrailer had crashed through the median between the eastbound and westbound lanes. Multiple other vehicles were involved, and a life flight helicopter responded to the scene, police said.
Construction crews were still working to repair guardrails in the median as of Tuesday afternoon, which will keep the far left lanes on each side of the Mass Pike closed as late as 7 p.m., MassDOT said.
