WORCESTER, MA — Two suspects accused of kidnapping a 4-day-old baby girl appeared in Worcester court Monday, and officials said they were being held without bail pending dangerousness hearings.
The baby was missing for three hours Saturday and left unharmed with "an uninvolved citizen" at a Subway restaurant on Lincoln Street in Shrewsbury, according to authorities.
Kassidy Lauziere-Cuevas, 19, of Milford, and Daquan Jefferson, 23, of Worcester, face kidnapping charges.

Jefferson's attorney told the court his client had nothing to do with the alleged kidnapping. Lauziere-Cuevas will undergo a competency evaluation at the request of her attorney.
According to police, the baby's mother said she was in contact with Lauziere-Cuevas through Facebook when the two decided to meet for coffee. They had never met in person before and the woman got into Lauziere-Cuevas' car with her baby, stopping at a gas station on Southbridge Street, police said.

When the mother went into the gas station store, police said Lauziere-Cuevas drove away with her baby around 9:15 a.m.
Worcester police found Lauziere-Cuevas' car miles away in Shrewsbury around 10 a.m., but the woman and baby were not in it.
Just after noon, police discovered the baby had been left with a bystander at a Subway restaurant along Lincoln Street in Worcester. Police said the baby was unharmed and reunited with her mother.
Shortly after, police found Lauziere-Cuevas and Jefferson together at a nearby Wendy's on Lincoln Street and arrested.
