WORCESTER, MA — The slate of candidate who will move on to the November municipal general election in Worcester is all but set.

Tuesday's preliminary election pared down a field of more than a dozen candidates running for the District 1, 2, 4 and 5 city council seats and the District E Worcester School Committee seat.

About 8,700 voters turned out in Tuesday's preliminary against a total of about 96,000 voters eligible to vote in the election — turnout of about 9 percent. Turnout in the September 2021 preliminary with just two races on the ballot — District 1 and 5 city council — was slightly higher at 10.3 percent.
