Worcester Church, YWCA Leaders Appointed To POST Commission Board

The Rev. Clyde Talley and Deborah Hall will help oversee a new state agency that certifies police officers for duty.

WORCESTER, MA — Two well-known Worcester community leaders have been appointed to the state POST Commission, the police oversight agency that certifies officers in Massachusetts as fit for duty.

The Rev. Clyde Talley, senior pastor at Worcester's Belmont A.M.E. Zion Church, was appointed to the commission by Gov. Maura Healey and Attorney General Andrea Campbell. YWCA of Worcester Deborah Hall was appointed to her seat by the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.

The state created the POST Commission in 2020 following the murder of George Floyd. The agency has begun certifying officers for duty, and has either suspended or not certified some officers for issues ranging from misconduct to criminal charges. The commission most recently released a promised database of officers who have committed misconduct on the job.

"It's clear that over the past three years the commission has laid the foundations for strengthening accountability and trust in law enforcement, and I’m eager to continue building on that work," Talley said in a news release.

Hall and Talley are the first two POST Commissioners from Worcester. There are eight commissioners serving today and one vacancy, according to the commission website.
