Workers Stabbed, Punched In Separate Worcester Downtown Robberies: Police

The two separate robberies happened Sunday afternoon at stores around the Worcester Common, police said.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester police arrested a 26-year-old local man Sunday afternoon after two separate robberies downtown that left employees at two local stores injured.

The first robbery happened around 3 p.m. along the 500 block of Main Street just south of City Hall. In that incident, the robber stabbed an employee who tried to stop him from stealing items, police said. The employee's injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

The second robbery happened nearby at the CVS along Front Street. Police said the robber punched employees who tried to stop him from stealing from the store.

A surveillance camera caught the robber on video during the Main Street incident. Police knew the man, identifying him as Anthony Parrilla. Police found him near the intersection of Franklin and Harding streets in the Canal District. Police charged Parrilla with armed robbery, assault with intent to rob or murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unarmed robbery and assault and battery.
