Worcester Police Open Daily Incident Logs As Act Of Transparency
Interim Worcester police Chief Paul Saucier is making incident logs available online, showing what incidents police are responding to.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester residents can now look through daily incident logs from the police department, a move aimed at increasing the transparency of a department that saw a major leadership change this month, officials said.
The logs were added to the police department's website Wednesday, offering a look at what incidents police have responded to so far this year. The logs show the times, dates and nature of police responses, plus the name of the primary officer who responded.
"As part of Interim Chief Saucier’s plan to focus on transparency in the Worcester Police Department, we are informing the public that the WPD call log is now available on the WPD website. So far in 2023, the department has responded to over 94,000 calls," the department said in a tweet Wednesday.

The department has for years offered crime data through the service City Protect, which shows incidents on a map of the city. But City Protect data does not provide the name of the officer who responded, and does not show how an incident was resolved.
Saucier took over as interim chief on Sept. 3 following Steven Sargent's sudden retirement.
