announced Wednesday the outstanding work of their students at the 2011 Great Lakes Invitational Model United Nations (Model UN) Conference.
Nineteen students from Roeper participated in the conference, which was held in Kalamazoo. Nov. 30-Dec. 3. Model UN is a national program that provides student participants with a better understanding of the inner-workings of the UN as they build skills in diplomacy and compromise. Cooperative, hands-on learning allows students to confront a range of topics with the perspective of their assigned country or organization.
The Great Lakes Model UN (GLIMUN) conference provided students a forum for addressing global concerns in a "real world" context. Participants addressed important issues such as regional conflicts, peacekeeping, human rights and economic and social development.
