Severe Storms Could Produce 60 MPH Winds Thursday Night

The National Weather Service says hail, high winds and rain will roll through Metro Detroit Thursday night.

METRO DETROIT, MI — The National Weather Service is predicting severe weather rolling through Metro Detroit Thursday night. Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop, and a few severe storms are possible through the evening with damaging winds of up to 60 mph, one inch hail, and flooding rain all possible, according to the National Weather Service.

A second round of storms is expected overnight as a cold frontapproaches and moves through lower Michigan. These storms are notexpected to be as severe but may be capable of half-inch hail and 40mph wind gusts, the National Weather Service reports. There is a chance of thunderstorms Friday morning into early afternoon as a cold front clears the state.
