Bloomfield Hills Entrepreneur Donates Building
Inkster Facility Assists Eastern Market Businesses

Co-packing has become a trend in Michigan, especially in the Detroit area. The Jewish News examines this trend in a current edition, and focuses in part on Bloomfield Hills resident Jack Aronson, 64, founder of Garden Fresh Gourmet. Aronson owned an idle manufacturing building in Inkster and donated it to Detroit’s Eastern Market.
“I think Eastern Market is the finest farmers’ market in the United States,” Aronson told the Jewish News. “What they’re trying to do with the local food communities … I don’t think there’s anything more important being done by anybody than what they’re doing.”
Aronson also founded the Artichoke Garlic Foundation, a charity that supports children’s programs, literacy efforts and other community projects.
