Chief Dave Hendrickson said among the highlights are a series of activities and demonstrations at the Department of Public Safety, including:

  • A helicopter landing by a Beaumont Hospital medical helicopter.
  • Smokehouse simulation to help educate residents on what to do in the event of a fire in their house.
  • A Tazer Demonstration by an officer who will explain the non-lethal device and demonstrate how it's used by shooting into cardboard.
  • A tour of the shooting range where officers practice with their service weapons and speak to an instructor.
  • Hot dogs and refreshments for guests.

Hendrickson, who took over the department in May, said he's looking forward to seeing the department in action while getting a chance to meet residents face-to-face.
