Catalytic Converters Targeted Again in Bloomfield Township

Officers with the Bloomfield Township Police Department responded to the offices of Hubble, Roth and Clark at 555 Hulet Rd. on Oct. 9 after employees reported the catalytic converters missing from multiple vehicles in their fleet.

The theft reportedly occurred in the engineering firm's parking lot sometime overnight on Oct. 8. Damage was estimated at about $1,500.

The converters, which are used to filter engine emissions, are commonly targeted by thieves because of the valuable metal components inside, such as platinum or palladium, authorities said.

Employees at Honda Bloomfield and the Dick Scott Auto Dealership reported catalytic converters stolen off several vehicles late last month. 

Thieves also struck Bloomfield Honda in January, and detectives are currently investigating nearly a dozen similar thefts reported since the spring. No suspect information was available.
