Southfield Man Arraigned In Bloomfield Check Forging Case

Anthony James, 46, was arraigned via video yesterday, Dec 21, from the Oakland County Jail on eight counts stemming from his alleged attempt to cash a forged check at the Flagstar Bank at 3915 Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Hills.
According to Bloomfield Hills Police, James entered the bank on Dec 18 and tried to cash a forged check. When the teller left the counter, James fled empty handed, but was arrested at a traffic stop in Southfield shortly afterwards. Police say that James and two other occupants of the stopped vehicle had other “stolen legitimate checks.”
The indictment contains eight charges: uttering and publishing (one count), identity theft (five counts), and receiving and concealing stolen property (two counts). Judge Marc Barron of the 48th District Court set bond for James at $100,000. His next court appearance takes place Thursday, Dec 28, at 9 am. The other occupants in James’ car were arrested on outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions.
