• Washtenaw County family warns others to check coverage after car insurance denies claim (clickondetroit.com) — A Chelsea-area family is warning neighbors to double-check their auto insurance after GEICO initially said a Christmas Eve crash wouldn’t be covered because their infants weren’t listed on the policy. Michigan’s Personal Injury Protection rules require all household members, regardless of age, to be named, though GEICO ultimately agreed to cover the damage after media inquiries.
   

• Chelsea boys basketball shocks unbeaten Huron in last-second thriller (mlive.com) — Chelsea High School’s boys basketball team opened 2026 with a huge road upset, edging previously unbeaten Ann Arbor Huron 64-62 after a missed three at the buzzer. Junior guard Buck Allen poured in 25 points and freshman standout Drew Cabana added 22, helping the Bulldogs snap a two-game skid and improve to 5-2 heading into Friday’s home game against Ypsilanti.
