• Growing Up in Chelsea Recalled Through 1950s and '60s Memories (thesuntimesnews.com) — Local history buffs can step back into 1950s–60s Chelsea on Jan. 5, 2026, at the historic Chelsea Train Depot. Chelsea resident Linda Meloche will host longtime locals sharing memories of downtown businesses, daily life, and trains, with free admission for Historical Society members and a small fee for non-members.

• Police recover stolen Christmas decorations on display in Chelsea (mlive.com) — Chelsea police recently recovered several stolen Christmas decorations taken from a display on South Main Street, returning them to their owner. Investigators used surveillance video and witness statements to identify a 66-year-old Illinois woman as the suspect, and the case has been forwarded to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for potential charges.
   

• Chelsea District Library Ringing in 2026 With New Community Read (chelseaupdate.com) — Chelsea District Library is teaming up with Dexter District Library and Serendipity Books to launch the 2026 Neighbors Read, featuring Dead Moose on Isle Royale. Chelsea readers can grab free copies, join themed programs, and even meet the author while exploring Michigan’s wilderness, history, and wildlife through book discussions and related events.
