Thieves Siphon Gas from Vehicle in Chelsea
The following information was supplied by the Chelsea Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

A Chelsea resident told police that someone may have siphoned gas from her vehicle sometime over the weekend.
According to police reports, the owner informed police that she parked her car near the 700 block of North Freer Road sometime between 6 and 11 p.m. on Friday. When the owner returned to the car, she noticed that her gas lid was partially ajar. The owner stated that she believed approximately 1/8th of a tank of her gas was missing from the vehicle. There are no suspects and the case has been closed.

While on routine patrol, Chelsea Police officers conducted a traffic stop for a speeding violation near the 500 block of North Main Street on Sept. 15. Upon making contact with the driver, a 38-year-old Chelsea man, officers determined that the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of the Michigan State Police Brighton Post. The man was able to post the required $235 bond and was released from custody.
Attempted Burglary

A business owner contacted rhe Chelsea Police Department Sept. 15 near the 100 block of North Main Street and said the rear door to her building had been damaged in a possible attempt to gain entry. The door had already been repaired at the time of the report. Police had further information.
Driving Under the Influence
Officers with the Chelsea Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Old US-12 and Main Street in response to a reckless driver complaint on Sept. 12. According to police reports, after questioning the driver and performing standard field sobriety tests, the driver, a 65-year-old Chelsea man was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. The case remains open pending laboratory analysis by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab.
Grave Robbing
On Sept. 12, an unknown individual removed multiple items from a grave site in the 1000 block of North Freer Road. Police did not release any further information.
