13 Senior Olympians Qualify to Compete for Clinton Twp. in 2013 National Games

Competing in sports such as pickleball, badminton, table tennis and racquetball, 13 Clinton Township residents won medals at this year's Michigan Senior Summer Olympics hosted by Oakland University.

The Clinton Township Senior Center members, led by Sports and Fitness Coordinator Wanda Vasko, won 21 gold, 13 silver and 1 bronze medal. These placements qualify them to compete in the Ohio National Games in 2013.

The medalists were recognized Monday by the Clinton Township board of trustees. They include:

• 3 gold in badminton

Jack Gilliland

• 1 gold, 1 silver in table tennis

Fred Maloney

• 2 gold, 1 silver in badminton

Sugin Marney

• 2 gold in badminton
• 2 gold, 1 silver in table tennis

Arlon Quiqley

• 1 gold, 1 silver in badminton
• 1 gold, 1 bronze in table tennis

Dusanka Radovic

• 1 gold in tennis, 1 gold in pickleball

Kurt Scharafinski

• 1 silver in table tennis

Godwin Sciriha

• 1 gold in badminton

Bernard Snay

• 1 gold, 1 silver in badminton
• 1 gold, 1 silver in table tennis
• 1 gold, 1 silver in racquetball

Bill Starr

• 2 silver in table tennis

Wanda Vasko

• 3 gold medals in badminton

Norm Williams

• 1 silver in table tennis
