Police Chief Recognizes 2 Clinton Township Citizens for Crime-Stopping Actions

Clinton Township Chief of Police Fred Posavetz recognized the actions of two Clinton Township residents Sept. 26 that helped police solve two crimes this past summer.

It was more than just being in the right place at the right time, Zachary Daniels and John Morrish took the initiative to act when they saw crimes being committed in their neighborhoods and for that Chief of Police Fred Posavetz awarded them the Citizens’ Certificate of Commendation on Sept. 24.

“These men made it possible for us to make arrests and bring charges to those responsible parties,” Posavetz said, prior to awarding the certificates.

On Aug. 7, while driving on Colman Street in Clinton Township, Morrish saw two suspects running from a home. Morrish noticed both men were wearing gloves, which is rather odd for August, and called police.

Squad cars in the area were able to locate both suspects and police soon learned the suspects were responsible for not one, but two home invasions that day.

“For that we will always be indebted to you for your alertness and willingness to get involved,” Posavetz said.

Zachary Daniels

On Aug. 13, Daniels noticed someone breaking into his neighbor’s home. He quickly called police who were able to arrest the suspect.

“He was alert and gave a really good description to make (the arrest) possible and he kept his neighborhood safe,” Posavetz said.
