Police Investigate Rash of Break-ins; Arrest Driver With Crack, Xanax in Clinton Twp.

The following information was supplied by the Clinton Township Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Clinton Township police are investigating reports of multiple home invasions this week, with stolen items ranging from jewelry and coins to flat-screen TVs and gaming systems.

Clinton Township Capt. Richard Maierle said it is unknown if any of the home invasions are related, but police are following leads on possible suspects.

Home invasions reported to police this week include:

17500 block of Kingsbrooke Circle

  • Items stolen: 42-inch television, Xbox Kinect, Xbox gaming system and several games; worth about $1,350
  • When: Sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sept. 25
  • How gain entry: Front door damaged
  • Police have made no arrests in this case.

20400 block of Nicke

  • Items stolen: Two flat-screen television sets, worth about $1,000
  • When: Sometime between 6 p.m. Sept. 23 and 10:30 a.m. Sept. 25
  • How gain entry: Broke out a bedroom window
  • Police have made no arrests in this case.

18400 block of Clinton River Road

  • Items stolen: Flat-screen TV, jewelry and coins
  • When: Sometime bewteen 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 21
  • How gain entry: Kick in the home’s garage door and entry door
  • Police have made no arrests in this case.

23200 block of 15 Mile Road

  • Items stolen: Toshiba flat-screen TV, boots, three pairs of athletic shoes; worth $1,280
  • When: Sometime between noon and midnight Sept. 21
  • How gain entry: Kick in front door
  • Police have made no arrests in this case. 

37400 block of Charter Oaks

  • Items stolen: Jewelry, flat-screen TV, Wii, Xbox 360 and multiple games
  • When: Sometime bewteen 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 21
  • How gain entry: Information not available in report
  • Police have made no arrests in this case.

Attempted home invasion thwarted by alert homeowner

On Sept. 24, at approximately 3:31 a.m., a resident in the 15500 block of Lakeside Village reported to police that an 18-year-old man was attempting to break into her home.

The woman told police the man had opened the outside screen door and was attempting to break through the closed door wall using a patio table when she dialed 911, accordingn to the police report.

The resident called police and officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect for home invasion, according to the police report.  

Police arrest driver with Xanax, packs of crack cocaine

On Sept. 24, at approximately 11:06 p.m., Clinton Township police arrested a 29-year-old man for violating the Controlled Substance Act.

Officers noticed the man behaving suspiciously in the parking lot of the McDonald's at Groesbeck and 15 Mile Road, getting out of his car and going into the store multiple times before leaving the lot, according to the police report.

The man was stopped and officers found multiple Xanax pills, for which the man did not have a prescription, three packets of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a razor blade, according to the police reprot.

The suspect told police he purchased the cocaine at 8 Mile and I-75 and had smoked a portion of it prior to parking in the lot, according to the police report.
