Shoplifters Target Fish Tank Filters, Metamucil, Playstation Items in Clinton Twp.

Police search for Vince & Joe's beverage thief

On Sept. 21 and Sept. 25, an unknown suspect was captured on surveillance video outside Vince & Joe’s Gourmet Market stealing cases of Arizona Ice Tea, Capri Sun and pop, according to the police report.

The thefts are reported to have happened around 1 a.m. on Sept. 21 and Sept. 25. It is unknown if the same person was responsible for both thefts, but in at least one case, the suspect is described as being of medium to heavy build and driving an Impala or Malibu, according to the police report.

Police have not made any arrests in this case.

Metamucil shoplifter arrested at Rite Aid

On Sept. 24, at approximately 1:53 p.m., police arrested a 46-year-old man for retail fraud from the Rite Aid at 35250 Gratiot.

Rite Aid employees told police they watched the man conceal three bottles of Metamucil in his coat. When they approached him to ask if he planned to pay for the items, the man took one bottle out of his coat but kept the other two, according to the police report.

The man was escorted to the store’s office and arrested when police arrived.

Teen caught on Kmart surveillance stealing gaming accessories

On Sept. 4 and Sept. 23, loss prevention specialists at the Garfield Kmart report a teen shoplifted a number of video game accessories, according to the police.

On Sept. 4, the teen was seen concealing a Playstation 3 controller in his clothing and leaving the store without paying. On Sept. 23, the same teen was seen putting another Playstation 3 accessory down his pants and leaving without paying. Later the same day, he cut a Playstation controller out of its packaging and again concealed it in his clothing before leaving, according to the police report.

All the thefts were caught on video. The teen is described as being a white male, 13 to 15 years old, 140 to 160 pounds, blond shaggy hair and standing 5 foot 3 inches to 5 foot 5 inches tall, according to the police report.

No arrests have been made in this case.

License plate stolen off vehicle in Jim Riehl's lot

Employees of Jim Riehl’s dealership report that at some point in the last week a license plate was stolen from one of the vehicles in the lot, according to the police report.

The license plate number is 30D157.

Police arrest man for theft of fish tank filters at Meijer

On Sept. 23, at approximately 4:20 p.m., police arrested a 52-year-old man for retail fraud at the Groesbeck Meijer, according to police reports.

Employees told police that as the man went through the self-checkout they watched him toss several fish tank filters past the scanner. The man paid for several other items, but attempted to leave the store without paying for the filters, according to police.

The man was confronted by store personnel and arrested upon the arrival of police.
