2 Cars Impounded After Street Racing In Dearborn: Police

DEARBORN, MI — Officers impounded two cars that were illegally street racing in Dearborn on Monday night, according to police.

Officers saw the two cars racing at 10 p.m. near Michigan Avenue and Outer Drive in Dearborn, according to police.

Officers tried to stop the vehicles, but both drivers sped away, according to police.

One driver slowed down with the car's hazard lights on, indicating to officers they would stop, but then sped away, according to police.

Officers chose not to chase the cars due to safety concerns, according to police.

Officers later found the two suspected cars using police technology, according to police.

Officers found one car near Beach Daly Road and Eureka Road in Dearborn and the other in Dearborn Heights, according to police.

Both cars, which police did not identify, were impounded, according to police.

Both drivers face tickets and arrests in connection with the incident, according to police.

"As seen in this case, our officers successfully impounded the involved vehicles, and those who flee will still face arrest and serious legal consequences. Our message is clear—dangerous driving will not be tolerated in Dearborn," Police Chief Issa Shahin said in response to the situation.
