2 Hurt In Wayne County Strip Mall Fire: Officials

GARDEN CITY, MI — Two people were injured in a Monday night fire in Wayne County, according to fire officials.

The fire broke out at 11:30 p.m. at a business in the 6500 block of Middlebelt Road in Garden City, according to fire officials.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the business, according to fire officials.

They learned there were people inside the business and helped them escape the burning building, according to fire officials.

Two people were taken to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation treatment, according to fire officials.

Firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to the surrounding structures and eventually put it out, according to fire officials.

Fire officials said the blaze caused significant damage to the business, while nearby businesses sustained smoke damage.
