Staff, Student Hurt In Knife Fight At Wayne County HS: Police

Police said a staff member was injured while trying to break up a fight that involved two students and a knife.

GARDEN CITY, MI — A school official and a student were injured after a fight involving a knife at a Wayne County school Tuesday morning, according to police.

The incident happened at 8:33 a.m. Tuesday at Cambridge High School in Garden City, according to police.

Police said two students were fighting when one pulled out a knife.

While separating them, a Garden City Public Schools staff member was injured by the knife that one of the students involved was wielding, according to police.

The staff member was treated at the scene for a minor injury, while a student was taken to a nearby hospital for a minor injury, police said.

Both students were arrested in connection with the incident, according to police.

Police said classes at the high school have resumed and there is no further danger to the public.

Police were still investigating the incident.
