Athletes of the Year: Dearborn Honors Top High School Performers
Dearborn High students win Van Patrick Memorial Award in honor of legendary broadcaster.

DEARBORN, MI — Riad Rababeh and Isabelle Clark, both seniors at Dearborn High, were named the High School Athletes of the Year by the Dearborn Recreation & Parks Commission at its 65th Annual Sports Awards Ceremony on March 12.
As the High School Athletes of the Year, Rababeh and Clark received the Van Patrick Memorial Award, named after the late local sportscaster Van Patrick. Rababeh has been a standout performer with the Pioneers cross country and track teams, while Clark has excelled with the school’s, basketball, soccer and golf teams.
On hand to honor Rababeh and Clark was Dearborn Mayor John B. O’Reilly Jr. The late Van Patrick, a Dearborn resident, was an acclaimed radio and television personality who broadcast college and professional sports—including Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions games—from the late 1940s until 1974. Patrick was a member of the Dearborn Recreation & Parks Commission and a longtime supporter of the Dearborn Recreation & Parks Department.
